1 Corinthians 12:12–27 // Why Membership?
The Bible pictures the church as a human body — many different parts, all belonging to one whole. This idea shapes everything about membership. When someone becomes a Christian, they are not only saved from sin - they are added to a community of people. This means being truly interconnected, because you cannot follow Jesus alone. It also means knowing your family — the specific people you are called to love, serve, and be honest with.
Membership also matters when things go wrong. A clearly defined community makes loving discipline and restoration possible. Finally, it works in both directions: leaders need to know their people, and every member needs to know their leaders — the people God has given them to follow.
