God is overwhelmingly generous, not stopping short of giving His Son, Jesus.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16
For those who have given their lives to Jesus and have received him by faith, their debt to God has been paid in full by Jesus. This liberating news frees us to be generous, giving out of gratitude for what God has done for us. We don't give in an attempt to buy favour or special treatment from God because God cannot be bought or bribed. For those who have placed their faith in Jesus, he has fully paid for their sin and has eternally won favour from God for them.
Ultimately, the matter of giving is a matter of worship. Jesus tells us that where our heart goes, our money follows. Wanting what is best for us, the Bible teaches us to use our finances - as in all other resources - to glorify God, showing our thanks, love, and faith in Him.
